Write for the Journal

The ILEETA Journal is the official publication of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association. It serves as a dedicated platform for sharing knowledge and insights on law enforcement training.

Frequency of Publication

The journal is published quarterly, ensuring a steady flow of current and relevant information.

Purpose

The primary goal of the ILEETA Journal is to foster the exchange of information on topics related to law enforcement training. It aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of criminal justice professionals, with a particular focus on law enforcement trainers.

Audience

Our readership includes criminal justice professionals, with a focus on law enforcement trainers who are committed to excellence in training and education.

Article Specifications

  • Length:
    • Feature Articles: 1200-2000 words
    • Editorials, Product Reviews, Imagination in Training, and Specialized Columns: 500-750 words
  • Format: Articles should be submitted electronically, typed, and double-spaced in Microsoft Word format. Please use Calibri, 11 pt font if possible.
  • References: Authors must provide references when quoting sources, citing or paraphrasing another person’s work, or referring to information that is not generally well-known. Refer to “A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 7th ed.” by Kate L. Turabian for proper footnote format.

Writing Style and Grammar

The ILEETA Journal prefers articles written in the third person (with exceptions for editorials, reviews, and Imagination in Training submissions) using active voice. Authors should adhere to the guidelines provided in “The New York Public Library Writer’s Guide to Style and Usage” to ensure their writing meets the Journal’s standards.

Photographs and Graphics

Authors are encouraged to include a digital photograph of themselves. Additionally, digital photos and illustrations that enhance and support the text are welcome.

Biography

Please include a short, one-paragraph biography outlining your background and experience related to the article’s subject matter.

Publication Guidelines

  • Selection Criteria: Articles are selected based on relevance to the audience, factual accuracy, analysis, structure, logical flow, style, ease of reading, and length.
  • Product Reviews: The Journal accepts product reviews from members with no financial interest in the product. Articles promoting or soliciting purchases will not be selected.
  • Content Restrictions: Articles should not be time-sensitive, inflammatory, profane, or suggest unethical or illegal conduct. Unattributed content or content without exclusive rights will not be accepted.

Editing

The editorial staff reserves the right to edit all articles for length, clarity, format, and style. The staff also determines the publication date for each article.
