The Power of the MagnumSpike!

As told by Investigator Greg Cox, Sequoyah County Sheriffs Department

“On this date of Feb. 1, 2010, a high speed pursuit was led into Sequoyah Co. from Sebastian Co. with Deputies from Sebastian Co., Arkansas, and other area officers pursuing behind the suspect vehicle. One of the suspects in the vehicle was an escapee from a Correction Center who had assisted in the assault of a Detention Officer during escape. The Officer later deceased from injuries directly caused from his assailant’s attack.

“The subjects had run at least two different road blocks where they were attempted to be stopped. They approached the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department road block that I was assisting in where I had deployed the MagnumSpike! system. A direct contact was made by the new model Ford F150 truck and shortly after the tires were deflated and shredding from the spikes direct puncture into the tires. Without this product the lives of numerous persons would have been in great danger due to coming into a highly populated residential/business district of the Town of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.”

The MagnumSpike! is the only TDD to hold the US Department of Homeland Security Certificate of Conformance as an approved product for Homeland Security under the Safety Act of 2002.

Failure is not an option with the MagnumSpike!  Law Enforcement departments interested in this 100% safe and effective TDD can take advantage of a special offer of the new MS16 model available in a compact, lightweight case for just $295.00 while supplies last.

Response to Active Shooter training program is ‘comprehensive, well-done, accurate’

EDGARTOWN, MA – In an active shooter incident such as Columbine or Fort Hood, normal safety protocols may be suspended as police officers and other first responders quickly act without waiting for support teams to arrive. Emergency Film Group of Edgartown, MA has produced “Active Shooter: Rapid Response” a DVD-based training resource and reference designed for law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and and others who may be first on the scene of a mass shooting. In the ILEETA Review, a publication of the International Law Enforcement Educators & Training Association, this program was described as “a comprehensive, well-done, accurate training aid that is neither frivolously violent, nor boring.”

Combining realistic training exercises that simulate mass shootings with footage of actual incidents, “Active Shooter: Rapid Response” portrays  actions for the first arriving officer; two and four man teams, perimeter control, proper use of safety equipment, strategies and tactics, including use of deadly force, managing victims, the role of support teams, and terminating the incident. There is also a segment portraying the ‘lone officer scenario.’ Included in the package are a 34-minute DVD with a bonus feature on approach, entry and search tactics and a Resource CD-Rom with PowerPoint, testing, and other materials that an instructor can use or modify as the basis of a customized training seminar.

Technical advisors for “Active Shooter: Rapid Response” include Frank Borelli, a former police officer and currently the Editor-in-Chief of Officer.com, a website dedicated to supporting police officers; Phillip Currance,  a member of the US Public Health Service who serves as the Deputy Commander of the Central US National Medical Response Team for WMD; Rick Hetzel, Assistant Special Agent in Charge and the State Assistant Team Commander with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Special Response Team; Mike Hildebrand, Senior Partner and operations security consultant with Hildebrand & Noll Associates; Chris Mailliard, a Tactical Medic with over 15 years in emergency response;  August Vernon of the Forsyth County (NC) Office of Emergency Management; and  Trent Walker, Critical Incident Planning Officer for the Greensboro Police Department (NC). Filming was done on location in Massachusetts with the help of law enforcement and other response organizations.

Emergency Film Group uses leading professionals in emergency response and film production to create authoritative and accurate training programs for police and other emergency responders.  Winner of more than 140 awards in national and international competitions, the company addresses such timely topics as incident management, terrorism response, homeland security, and hazardous materials response. Security Equipment Corp. Introduces Sabre Crossfire

Monday, March 22, 2010
-

Your mind races to process the totality of circumstances as you approach a potentially dangerous subject.  You’re not sure if this large and seemingly aggressive individual is armed, an experienced fighter or will comply with verbal commands.  As your commands are dismissed, you escalate to OC deployment.  Suddenly, the subject extends his hands out from his face and ducks while approaching you quickly.  Seconds count and your safety is on the line.  Are you forced to escalate or do you have an OC countermeasure?

Static subjects are few and far between.  Aggressive and non-compliant behavior often results in subject countermeasures to avoid officer control and restraint.  When force escalation triggers the use of OC, subjects will frequently move, duck or attempt to block the spray.  As these dynamic encounters ensue, the officer’s task of gaining control becomes increasingly difficult.  SABRE’s Crossfire technology was specifically developed to give officers the upper-hand when controlling dynamic subjects.

Superior to 1st and 2nd generation Aerosol Irritant Projectors, Crossfire introduces 3rd generation technology which allows SABRE OC canisters to deploy continuously from any position.  Picture the face of an analog clock which displays the time through the use of fixed numbered dials and moving hands.  1st generation OC sprays only deploy upright between the clock’s 10 and 2 dials.  2nd generation OC sprays increase target acquisition with the addition of ½ second bursts deployments between the clock’s 4 and 8 dials.  The 3rd generation Crossfire will deploy continuously from any position or dial on a clock to maximize target acquisition when encountering dynamic subjects.

When asked about the name for this 3rd generation OC technology, David Nance, V.P. Sales & Marketing for Security Equipment Corporation said, “Crossfire is a good, strong name.  Aside from indicating the strength of SABRE products, Crossfire is a military term which became popular during World War I.  Crossfire is a technique using lines of fire from multiple positions making it difficult for an attacker to find a covered approach. Preventing a covered approach, increases target acquisition and OC effectiveness.”

Officers can now increase their safety and reduce control and restraint challenges with Crossfire which permits continuous OC deployment from any position.

For more information about Crossfire, SABRE Aerosol Projectors, SABRE DECON or any other Security Equipment Corporation products, contact Security Equipment Corporation at 330 Sun Valley Circle, Fenton, MO 63026 (800) 325-9568 / (636) 343-0200 or visit www.sabrered.com – Making Grown Men Cry Since 1975!

For Immediate Release:

In a 10 months study on impact weapons, The Weapons and Equipment Research Institute (WERI), at Gulf Coast University concluded that the Peacekeeper Rapid Containment expandable Baton (RCB) out performed all Straight Stick batons, Side Handle batons, and Expandable batons tested.

WERI stated,

“when the RCB batons were tested in this latest study, their performance exceeded those of straight AND expandable batons.  Physical examination of the RCB batons revealed virtually no “give” in the joints…It is likely that this efficiency of the locking mechanism coupled with its mass leads to greater energy transfer.”

(It should be further noted that BOTH the 24” and 26” Rapid Containment Batons exceeded ALL of the batons in these test studies).

For years, the baton has taken a back seat to other Less Lethal options.  The release of this study has agencies re-evaluating the baton as an effective Less Lethal option.

For a copy of the statistical data study, contact Peacekeeper Products International at: info@PeacekeeperProducts.com

Be Safe!
