About Us

About ILEETA

ILEETA was formed in 2002 to serve the needs of criminal justice trainers and educators throughout the world. ILEETA provides information, training resources, member discounts and networking. The true strength of the organization lies in its diverse membership. ILEETA facilitates the sharing of ideas to help promote our motto: “Wisdom and Courage through Knowledge and Skill”. ILEETA membership is exclusive to persons actively engaged in training society’s protectors.

Organization

ILEETA was reformed in 2009 as a limited liability corporation and is headquartered in Burlington, WI. ILEETA keeps its operating costs low to provide the most benefits to its membership. Executive Director Harvey Hedden is aided by an advisory board of professional trainers and educators whose diverse backgrounds provide a variety of skills and expertise in the guidance of the organization. The consistency of management helps ILEETA avoid the organizational politics that would distract us from our mission. ILEETA is further served by Deputy Executive Director Brian Willis, Director of Sales and Marketing Mary Grace Barbye and Office Manager Gena Nowicki. ILEETA also benefits from the counsel of its founder and Executive Director Emeritus – Ed Nowicki. For a complete listing of all ILEETA advisory board members with bios CLICK HERE.

Dues and Benefits

ILEETA dues are $50/year and expire 12 months from the date of joining. Dues for members outside the U.S. are $55 to cover the additional costs of international mail. ILEETA provides a number of benefits for its members including free periodicals, training resources, discounts, networking opportunities and an annual training conference and expo that has become the largest gathering of law enforcement trainers in the world. ILEETA publishes four e-periodicals on a quarterly basis exclusively for its members. The ILEETA Digest is also mailed in printed form to all members. ILEETA accepts no advertising in these periodicals. ILEETA also keepsmembers up to date with regular E-Bulletins advising them of news, available resources, employment opportunities, member assistance requests and association updates. ILEETA will keep your information confidential and will only provide your mailing address to periodical providers. ILEETA’s web site provides hundred of training resources through the member gateway. ILEETA has also obtained trainer’s liability insurance for purchase by members. For a complete list of member benefits, CLICK HERE.

Annual Conference and Expo

ILEETA holds an annual conference and expo in the Chicago area. We have not moved the location because of the nucleus of volunteers that support the conference operations. Their familiarity with these operations insures more efficient conference and reduced costs for the association. Chicago is served by almost every airline providing more competitive airfares. It is also close to ILEETA headquarters reducing the costs of transportation and shipping. Conference tuition is typically less than others of this type. Comparisons are difficult because few offer the number and diversity of course offerings as an ILEETA conference. ILEETA conferences also provide over two dozen instructor certifications from various agencies and instructors. ILEETA itself does not certify instructors. Instructors are chosen by a selection committee based on the instructor’s reputation, benefit to ILEETA members, feedback from previous conference attendees and the completeness of the application form. The only compensation these instructors receive is a tuition waiver for the conference.

Corporate Sponsorship

ILEETA encourages corporations that are engaged in providing resources and services to its members to support ILEETA through a corporate sponsorship program. Corporate sponsors pay a fee of $500/year and are permitted to state they are a corporate sponsor and use the ILEETA logo. ILEETA also provides opportunities for these sponsors to provide information to members about their products and services through corporate e-blasts and other means. ILEETA does not endorse, recommend or approve any specific products or services and corporate sponsorship indicates that the sponsor has supported the organization.
