Meet Tim Janowick

Timothy Janowick is the Deputy Chief of the Field Operations Division with the Mount Prospect (IL) Police Department where he has served since July 1994 and a charter member of ILEETA. During his career, he has served as an evidence technician, youth officer, supervisor of the Major Accident Investigation Team, patrol sergeant, trainer, training coordinator, and Operations Commander. In 2004, the agency tasked him with developing the department’s first in-house training program. Over 6 years, the program grew to include 33 instructors teaching topics including first aid/CPR, use of force, defensive tactics, use of intermediary weapons, racial profiling, firearms tactics, ballistic shield use for patrol, physical fitness and nutrition, and police suicide awareness. Janowick specializes in teaching use of force, racial profiling, adult learning, and management/leadership. He continues to provide training to the Mount Prospect Police Department, to police recruits as an adjunct instructor with the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy at the College of DuPage, and to law enforcement officers as an instructor with the North East Multi-Regional Training Group (NEMRT), ILEETA, and other law enforcement organizations. He served as an Advisory Board member for the Illinois Police Instructor Trainers Association (IPITA) for several years, a local precursor to ILEETA. Professional memberships include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Society for Training and Development, and the Illinois Tactical Officers Association.
