
Meet Daryl Johnson
Advisory Board Member

Daryl Johnson is currently employed as the Captain
of Police at Alabama State University. He is recently retired from Colorado
Springs Police Department Tactical Enforcement Unit (SWAT). He ended his 20 year
military career as the Superintendent of Planning and Exercise Directorate and
started his law enforcement career as a Teller County Sheriff’s deputy. Favorite
subjects are Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, and Firearms. Daryl is a 6th
Degree Black Belt (Master Instructor) of Sanuces Ryu Jiu-Jitsu, and has been
training since he was 11 years old. After training and competing nationally and
internationally, he ended his competitive martial arts career on the United
States Jujitsu team as a two-time Jujitsu World Champion in 1995. Daryl also won
a United States and a European Tae Kwon Do title as well as five consecutive
National Jujitsu titles. As a certified instructor for over 30 years, his
training includes CQB, ground defense, stick and knife fighting. Daryl has
utilized some of his tactics as a law enforcement officer and has proved their
effectiveness on the street.
