DOWNLOAD THE 2008 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE (Revised 4/1/2008) Greetings Fellow ILEETA Members: A copy of the 2008 ILEETA Conference Schedule is posted on the ILEETA Web site (see the link above). Please look at all the offerings and pick your first, second, third, etc., choices - this is particularly necessary for the instructor certification and armorer certification courses. Check our web site often to see if the 2008 ILEETA Conference schedule has changed. We are doing our very best to reduce the possibility of any schedule changes. We are offering over 110 separate topics, including 25 separate Instructor and Armorer Certification Courses!!! You must register directly with the instructor for all instructor certification and armorer courses, and you can do so beginning January 14, 2008. The instructors WILL NOT accept any registrations for any instructor certification or armorer courses before January 14, 2008. We will accept a minimum of 30 registrants for all instructor certification and armorer courses - if more than 30 individuals can be registered, we will do our best to accommodate more. If any course fills up, the instructor will take a waiting list of names, since past experience shows that some registrants will not show up for the training program. We are asking the following: PLEASE do not register more than one person per agency in each course. We will only allow one person per agency in the instructor certification and armorer certification courses. If there are more openings at the conference, we will then allow more individuals to register. If a course fills up, PLEASE consider other choices. DO NOT register for multiple courses being offered at the same time. If you do, we will drop all registrations. PLEASE try to work with us and cooperate. We are doing our very best with this innovative process. Please see if the instructor has set any restrictions on who can and cannot participate in the instructor certification or armorer certification courses, such as limiting participation to only sworn law enforcement, corrections and military personnel. Instructors who conduct instructor certification or armorer certification courses can also charge up to $25 per person as a materials fee, which is paid directly to them. ILEETA will not collect any materials fees. The instructors WILL NOT return any fees paid to them, so make sure that you will attend the program before registering. When pre-registering for any instructor certification or armorer course, put, for example, the following "Pre-registration for X-26 & M-26 Taser Instructor Certification" in the subject line of your e-mail, or the name of the course. Be sure to include your name, rank/title, agency, and the single e-mail address and/or phone number that you want to be used for the instructor to contact you. If there is a materials fee, let the instructor know how you will be paying the fee. COMPLETING THIS INFORMATION IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!! Most instructor and armorer courses will fill quickly, and if they do, no walk-ins will be possible. Scroll down for Instructor Contact Info. Please take care of this beginning January 14, 2008. Limited Conference Registrations We cannot sacrifice quality for quantity and we will stop taking conference registrations when we reach 750 attendees. We need to maintain the integrity of the conference. So, if you know of anyone who wants to attend the conference, tell them to send their registration materials to us ASAP. Looking for Sharp Dressers If you are attending the 2008 ILEETA Conference and you wear your agency's uniform, PLEASE bring your uniform to wear for the Official Opening Ceremony. We did this for our 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 ILEETA Conferences and it was very impressive. Many members of the media will be present, and we want to put our best foot forward. Remember, BRING YOUR UNIFORM!!!!
The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) is taking a lead role with The ILEETA “Trinity of Dedication” which is an important way of dedicating the association’s focus by honoring the sacrifices of those who gave their lives and by preventing the deaths of additional officers through professional law enforcement instructor training. ILEETA is conducting three formal activities during the 2008 ILEETA Conference in order to raise funds to equally split between the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and The ILEETA Scholarship Fund. The “Trinity of Dedication” activities are “The ILEETA Cup” shooting competition only open to ILEETA Members (featuring both live fire and the use of firearms simulators); “The World Cop Donut Eating Championship” open to any sworn or retired officer; and, The “Flatfoot Five” 5K fun run/walk, which is open to anyone. The ILEETA Cup The ILEETA Cup, held for the first time in 2007, features both live fire and the use of firearms simulators. The event will be held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at the conference hotel. The competition, which takes less than 15 minutes to complete, will run from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The ILEETA Cup is open only to ILEETA members. This unique competition requires competitors to participate in both "live" fire and electronic firearms simulator events. All firearms and ammunition will be supplied to the competitors for use during The ILEETA Cup competition. There are some fantastic prizes for first, second and third place finishers in three different age classes and one "Grand Champion" for the overall winner. The entry fee is only $15, but any additional donation is very much appreciated. Additional T-Shirts, if available, can be purchased at only $10 each." The Flatfoot Five The “Flatfoot Five” is a 5k (3.1mile) fun run/walk that will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, starting at noon. This non-competitive run is organized to promote health and fitness, and to raise money for the NLEOMF and The ILEETA Scholarship Fund. The entry fee is only $15 per person, and any additional donation is greatly appreciated. A limited number of T-Shirts, if available, may be purchased for only $10 each. The International Iron Cop Competition The International Iron Cop Competition will take place on Monday, March 31, 2008. The cost is only $15 per entrant, which includes an event T-shirt. The Iron Cop Competition is open to any sworn officer. Event competitors do not need to attend the conference to compete. Valuable prizes will be won by the top competitor. Iron Cop measures an officer’s ability to perform job related physical skills of endurance, flexibility, speed, power, agility and technical skills such as handcuffing and tactical shooting. The International Police Driving Competition The International Police Driving Competition will also take place on Monday, March 31, 2008. The cost is only $15, which includes an event T-shirt. The Driving Competition is open to any sworn officer. Event competitors do not need to attend the conference to compete. Valuable prizes will be won by the top competitor. The International Police Driving Competition is a unique opportunity for any sworn officer to display their police driving skills behind the wheel of an L3 Driving Simulator. The World Cop Donut Eating Championship The Donut Eating Championship will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. The Entry Fee is only $10 and there will be over $2,000 in prizes. All event profits will be divided equally between the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the ILEETA Scholarship Fund. Have some good natured fun and raise some money for two very worthy causes. Again, ALL money raised though all events will be evenly split between the National Law enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), and The ILEETA Scholarship Fund. FREE Admission to the Vendor Expo at the 2008 ILEETA Conference!! Any officer with valid law enforcement credentials can attend the Vendor Expo at the 2008 ILEETA Conference. Just show up on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. or on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., to see the latest in new technologies and services. This is a "Don't Miss" event if you want to stay current in your field. Looking for A Few Good Vendors If you know of any potential vendors that would be a good fit with our conference, please let them know of us. We have a very limited number of vendor spaces left, which are available on a first come, first served basis. Our list of vendors already includes some of the nation's most well known and respected companies. The vendors will have 1 1/2 days of vending (1 full day on April 1st and 1/2 day on April 2nd). If you would like further information on vendor requirements for the 2007 ILEETA Conference or for a company being an ILEETA Corporate Sponsor, please call the ILEETA Director of Sales and Marketing, Mary Grace Barbye at 856-223-5437, or send her an e-mail at: MaryGrace@ILEETA.org. Are You a Police Author? If you've written a book, and if you would like to take part in a "Meet and Greet the Authors" session at the 2008 ILEETA Conference, you are invited to do so. This event will take place on on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 1300 hrs. to 1400 hrs. in a specially designated room. You can also sell your book(s) at the session, as long as you offer an ILEETA Conference discount to attendees, and designate a minimum of $1 (hopefully, MORE!) from each book's sales to us. All donations will be evenly divided between the NLEOMF and The ILEETA Scholarship Fund. These funds would then be donated immediately after the event. Click HERE to download a form for signing up.Door Prizes We already have some fantastic door prizes for the 2008 ILEETA Conference, but we are still soliciting door prizes and bag stuffers for our participants. We will include any company's literature with any door prize donation. We will also include a company's literature if they provide bag stuffers (key chains, mini flashlights, T-shirts, pens, etc.). This donation will show a company's support for those concerned with training the men and women who are sworn to protect society, while helping to get out information relevant to a company's products or services. Any consideration is greatly appreciated. Do you have any contacts with any professional sports teams? If so, how about helping us get any signed paraphernalia that we can use for an auction at the conference to raise money for The ILEETA Scholarship Fund? Any Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley contacts? How about Dan Marino or Brett Favre? Do I hear Willie Mays or Yogi Berra? We can pay for the baseball, basketball or football. Do you have any ideas on how to help us? Let us know - PLEASE! If you have any questions or if there's anything that I can do to help you, please call me at 262-279-7879. Take care and STAY SAFE. - Ed CONTACT INFORMATION FOR INSTRUCTOR AND ARMORER COURSES Contact for Registration Starting January 14, 2008 NOTE: Any Materials Fees are paid directly to each specific course's instructor and NOT to ILEETA!
